Emergency crews are at the scene of a car fire near Thornhill Park and Ride.
Three fire engines were called to reports of the white saloon on fire after 2.35pm.
Traffic on the A40 westbound near Headington is being held just before the turning to the Park and Ride.
Earlier, flames could be seen beneath the engine of the car, which was stopped at the side of the dual carriageway. Smoke covered much of the crossroads by the Thornhill turning.
