RIMMER Reverend Paul Nathanael Passed away on 13th July 2018 aged 93 years. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday 31st July at 12noon at St Peter's Church, Wolvercote. All enquiries to Reeves and Pain Funeral Services, 22 Fairfax Centre, Kidlington, OX5 2PB. Tel. 01865 371159

I was very saddened to learn of the passing of Paul Rimmer, I knew Paul very well as we shared many weddings together he being the vicar and me the photographer (R & RM Wheeler Photography) I first met Paul as he swept past me on his bike he was dressed all in black with a large black brimmed hat on disappearing behind the church only to reappear later explaining that he had just opened the village fate as the Man from Delmonte this was the start of a very happy time for me. Paul was known for not letting people use flash in his church, he would always point me to the organ lost and say you are welcome to go up there and during the first him I would take a flash photo of the congregation thus not disturbing the proceedings. I would like to pass on my most sincere condolences to Paul's family. Mr R. Wheeler (retired)

I was very sad to hear if Paul’s passing. Roger and I lived in Old Marston for over 30 years and Paul was such an integral part of the village. He was so kind to me when my mother was dying in 1989 when I was in my 30s. One evening my mum who had been diagnosed with cancer and was very near the end of her life randomly asked me if I had been to church and told me I really should go. Neither my mum or I were regular church goers. I phoned Paul at home and he opened the church even though it was 9.00pm and sat with me in prayer so that I could go back to my mum the next day so that I could go back to my mum and say I had been to church. She died shortly afterwards and her ashes are interned in St Nicholas church, as are my fathers and both my in laws. Today I sat in the church at the very same place that Paul and I sat that night and thanked him. I’m sure there are many stories out there that reflect Paul’s kindness and sincerity. He was a very special man with a great sense of humour and I’m so pleased that I am one of those people whose life he touched and changed. God rest his soul.
