Death Notice

Clare Wagstaff

Published on 21/01/2021

WAGSTAFF Clare It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Clare Wagstaff in her 94th year. Clare was born in Kettering, came to Oxford at the age of two and lived the rest of her life in Summertown. She is survived by her two sisters, Monica, presently living in Freeland House, and Dorothy, who resides in Canada with her family. Clare worked for the British Council during WWII and the rest of her working life at the Clarendon Lab at Oxford University. During the past year she lived in the Lady Nuffield Home. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the staff of the Lady Nuffield, and also to those of the Horton and St. Luke's Hospitals who helped Clare during the short illness which led to her death. She was a generous, loving and loyal sister who will be sorely missed. A requiem service for Clare will be held at SS. Gregory & Augustine Church on Woodstock Road on Friday 29th January 2021 at 11.00 a.m. All enquires to C. S. Boswell of Summertown, 01865 553737.

Clare worked as my secretary in the Clarendon Laboratory in the 1980s and was a model of competence and efficiency. So sorry to hear of her passing.
