HARTRIDGE Jon Born in Aylesbury on May 4th, 1933, passed away peacefully in Portsmouth on March 23rd, 2023 at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife, their two children, seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Jon attended Taunton School but chose not to pursue a university education. His journalistic career to him to the the Oxford Mail, where he worked as a sub-editor, features editor and book reviewer for over 30 years. Jon also freelanced for the Guardian and the Observer. He was also the author of two science fiction novels, Binary Divine (1969) and EarthJacket (1970). In addition to his writing career, Jon and his wife Pat co-created the Sunday Times book bestseller list, which became an important benchmark for book sales in the UK and beyond. In his personal life, Jon was a much loved, warm and kind man, as well as a devoted husband and father. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
