Patrick Vallance as said there is "No doubt we are in the third wave" as Covid-19 cases in Oxford continue to soar.
In today's 5pm press briefing on the cornavirus pandemic Prime Minister Boris Johnson has outlined plans for stage four of the Government's 'unlocking' plan to go ahead on July 19.
The unlocking comes as people in Oxford have been advised not to travel, to stem the spread of cases in the City.
240 new cases were recorded in the county on Sunday, taking the total number of cases in Oxfordshire to 40,000 since the pandemic began.
Freedom Day, as it has been called, will see all legal Covid restrictions lifted, including the scrapping of social distancing and masks in most enviroments.
The UK has recorded more than 30,000 Covid cases for the six day in a row.
