THERE has been confusion around whether the Kassam Stadium is open for walk-in vaccinations and booster shots.

Last week we reported the huge three and half hour queues at the Witney walk-in vaccine centre. Read more here>>

Lots of people were also waiting outside of the stadium to get a booster shot.

As a result, on Friday we reported that the vaccination centre was suspending the majority of walk-in jabs in order to prioritise pre-booked appointments. Read more here>>>

On Sunday night, the Prime Minister announced that people across Oxfordshire will be invited to get a booster jab before the new year.

In a pre-recorded speech to the nation, Boris Johnson said every adult over 18 in England who has had a second dose of a vaccine at least three months ago will be able to have their booster from yesterday.

The NHS website listed the Kassam Stadium as a place to get a walk-in vaccine. However, those appointments are now for people with a weakened immune system.

The Kassam is only open for walk-ins for people who are immunosuppressed who need a third jab.

The only people who will receive walk-in doses at the Kassam are people who are immunosuppressed who have a letter advising of the need for a third primary dose or a booster.

Some vaccination sites may offer a walk-in service for 18s and over if they have spare capacity such as the site at Exeter Hall in Kidlington.
