The historic market town of Abingdon has been ranked the 23rd worse place to live in England, but is it really that bad?

According to a survey by satirical website iLiveHere, Abingdon is one of the worst places to live in the country.

The survey, which is conducted annually, took a poll of 110,172 people, who voted where the top 50 worst places to live in the country were.

One voter described Abingdon as ‘Oxford’s ugly aggressive little brother that may stab you’.

Charlie Birks, who was mayor of the town between 2019 and 2021, has praised the town for its “community spirit” and added that he is not offended by people’s opinions.

He said: “The best thing about Abingdon is its people, it’s amazing the stuff that goes on in the town.

“We’re a small market town, we don’t profess to have a theme park, but we do have a cinema, museum and a wonderful selection of historic buildings.”

To prove that Abingdon really is the “worst” place to live we have put together all the reasons why you should avoid living in the town.
