A man has appeared in court accused of arming himself with a tree branch and attacking men outside a fried chicken shop.

Sol Boyd, 21, is said by prosecutors to have assaulted two men at the USA Fried Chicken shop, Wallingford, on July 3, last year.

Appearing before Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning, Boyd, of Habitat Way, Wallingford, pleaded not guilty to possession of an offensive weapon – the tree branch – and two counts of assault by beating.

The justices bailed him to return to court for his trial on April 21.

Under his bail conditions he is not to speak to prosecution witnesses and banned from going to the fast food restaurant.

Shane Hauschild appeared for the Crown Prosecution Service. Charlie Moss represented Boyd.
