Tributes have been paid to a former mayor of Didcot and former power station employee who had been a councillor for over 20 years.
Desmond Healy, who had been a union representative, died suddenly at home on February 21. He was 74.
Councillors paid tribute to the former major, described as a ‘Didcot legend’, who held the position in 2014/25 and retired from the council in 2019.

David Rouane, leader of South Oxfordshire District Council said: “I was very sad to hear of the recent death of Des Healy.
“I will remember him for his passion in campaigning for the best services for the people of Didcot, but also for the sense of fun which he brought to our work at the town council. He will be sadly missed.”
Mocky Khan, Mayor of Didcot: “I believe him to be a Didcot legend. He has done a lot for the town, He was mayor during the sad deaths at the power station and he dealt with that with empathy, commitment and understanding.
“I have a lot of admiration for him. He was Labour leader before me, and he guided me and helped me when I became leader.
“As mayor, I was looking at who could be suitable to get Freedom of the Town – in recognition of his exceptional service to the town.
"He was my candidate for that honour.”
