A PARISH council has objected to plans to build 90 homes at a derelict site.

An application to redevelop the former Dominion Oils site in Railway Lane was initially received in April and included plans to provide 50 houses and 40 flats, 100 per cent of which would be affordable housing.

Littlemore Parish Council (LPC) said in a consultee comment: “LPC is very concerned by the proximity of this large development to the conservation area in Littlemore, particular with reference to the historic barn, which is located in Railway Lane and will be subjected to the large increase in traffic passing along the lane, with the associated pollution and vibration.”

In addition to the parish council objection, revised drawings have also been submitted.

A planning statement sent when the application was first submitted states: “Cantay Estates Ltd and Oxford City Housing Ltd have agreed terms to enter a contractual commitment to provide 91 units of affordable housing at Railway Lane, Littlemore, to be delivered in phases over a period spanning 2023-2024.

“The first homes are expected to be ready for occupation by January 2023 with the expectation that all of the affordable homes would be delivered on the site by January 2024.”

A design and access statement adds: “The overall aim is to integrate into the site a variety of unit types from small one-bedroom flats to five-bedroom family houses within a well-designed and well laid out scheme, which will have a positive impact on this part of Littlemore.”

The application can be viewed on Oxford City Council’s planning portal, using the reference number 21/01176/FUL.
