While McDonalds is well-known for its cheap food and fast service, not every customer is lovin’ it.

One branch of the fast food chain in Oxfordshire has received shocking reviewers, with customers calling staff “rude”, another saying people were “hurt” while queuing up and a third described the establishment as “hot and uncomfortable”.

McDonalds on Cornmaket currently has a two star rating on TripAdvisor, with more negative reviews than positive.

One reviewer took to the site to describe staff at the chain restaurant as “rude, uncaring and very unhelpful”.

This scathing review was based on the fact the downstairs tables are reserved for staff breaks, with the general public having to make their way upstairs if they wish to sit in and eat.

They said that during their visit “two frail, old ladies were refused downstairs seating because of the pandemic and expected to climb the stairs if they wanted to sit down to eat their meals”.

“No amount of appealing for downstairs seating was fruitful on this occasion, even though the staff table was completely unoccupied at the time,” they continued.

Another customer also described the staff as “rude” after they allegedly asked a question about the toilets.

A third reviewer called the experience “terrible” and described how people got “hurt” due to pushing which was apparently taking place.

They said: “Absolutely terrible experience. Waited for longer than an hour to get the order.

“The queue was uncontrolled and everyone was getting pretty hurt with the pushing. Staff didn’t do anything to stabilise the situation.

“Absolutely terrible experience, avoid at all cost.”

This was echoed by a fourth person who called it “heaving, hot and uncomfortable”.

However, the reviews are not completely terrible with some customers taking the time to speak positively about the Cornmarket branch.

One happy customer said: “Cheap, convenient breakfast with easy touchscreen ordering and order was quick and spot on.”

Another called the service “quick” even though it was very busy, with the food “all correct and pleasant staff”.

However, they did note that the “toilets weren't so good” as it was “very wet on the floor”.

A spokesperson for McDonalds said: “Customer satisfaction is a priority of ours and we’re always disappointed when we hear of any experiences that fall short of our customers’ expectations.

“However, the reviews referenced make up a tiny proportion of the thousands of customers served each day.

“If any customer does have a complaint, we encourage them to either speak to a member of the crew in the restaurant or get in touch with our customer services team.”
