A carer has denied having a UK residence permit ‘with improper intent’.
Elizabeth Mwai, 46, is accused by prosecutors to have used the UK biometric residence permit in the name of Sally Baker to obtain work with Elite Live In Care in September 2019.
Appearing before Oxford Crown Court on Thursday morning, Mwai, of Ashlade, Middleton Cheney, pleaded guilty to committing fraud by false representation by presenting the permit to gain employment as a live-in carer.
But she denied a second allegation of possessing the identity document ‘with improper intent’. That charge related to claims that she had shown the permit in person at her employers’ offices near Southampton in September 2019, which she denies.
Judge Ian Pringle QC bailed Mwai to return to court for the trial on November 14.
