An Oxfordshire village has been forced to rely on deliveries of bottled and tanker water after taps have been running dry.

Residents of Northend said the emergency supplies arrived yesterday (9) after Thames Water confirmed 68 customers had been “completely without water for a period of time”.

A "technical fault" at Stokenchurch reservoir in Buckinghamshire has caused it to "dry up" leaving a village without water.

It is not the first time the problem has occured with villagers being left without water earlier this month.

Thames Water has apologised for the issues saying it understands how “inconvenient” it is, especially with the hot weather.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Oxford starting with “extreme” weather conditions expected across parts of the UK and Wales.

Temperatures are expected to reach highs of 33°C with the weather warning ending on Sunday (14).
