BANBURY United sealed a place in the fourth round of the Isuzu FA Trophy after a thrilling 4-3 win at home to Bognor Regis Town.

Jay Williams gave the Puritans the lead on 27 minutes, with Andy Whing’s side preserving their lead until the break.

It was after half-time when the goals started to pour as James Crane bagged an equaliser with 51 minutes played.

Henry Landers and Alex Babos then both hit wide for Banbury, before Giorgio Rasulo scored a quickfire double to provide a two-goal cushion.

Rasulo came on as a substitute on the hour mark, and scored in the 63rd and 65th minute.

With seven minutes to go, Dan Gifford scored for Bognor Regis, and then was through on goal a minute later but hit the sidenetting.

Ben Acquaye made it 4-2 to Banbury after 88 minutes, after Ben Taylor had saved an effort from Isaac Olaniyan at the other end.

Sam De St Croix scored a third for the away side four minutes into stoppage time, but it was Banbury who progressed to the fourth round.

There, they will host Coalville Town, who won 3-1 at Chesterfield.

Fourth round ties are due to take place on January 14.

Winning clubs at that stage will collect £5,250 from the competition’s prize fund while losing clubs will net £1,500.
