Children from several schools joined the samba band, while others in the audience joined in with homemade percussion instruments, creating a wave of sound that reverberated around the square.

The morning (Friday, September 22) ended with everyone in the Market Place on their feet dancing and singing to the folk classic Rattlin’ Bog.

Sam Gladstone, Director of Music at Radley College, said: “Every child is a musician. This week has been an inspiring celebration of how important music is in every school in the Abingdon area, and kick starts another amazing year of partnership between all of our schools.

“Seeing children and teachers from school across Abingdon sharing in their love of music, alongside some incredible professional musicians, has been utterly joyous.

“We’re so excited about the plans we have for this year. A massive thank you to all of the teachers, teaching assistants and parents who have given up their time to make this ambitious project a reality.”
