A new restaurant and cocktail bar has opened its doors on Cornmarket Street in Oxford

The new Cosy Club restaurant opened yesterday (October 16) after transforming the Cheng Yu Tung building - formerly Northgate House - which was opened by Jesus College last year.

Once through the doors, guests are 'immersed in an interior where the arts and crafts movement and Victoriana collide with nods to Biba-esq styling from the swinging sixties'.

Managing director at  Cosy Club, Lucy Knowles said: “We’re delighted to finally be open and to welcome guests through the door of this wonderful Cosy Club.

"The team has worked incredibly hard to create something very special.

"The transformation of this building is a feast for the eyes, an eccentric sense of Britishness with a big splash of glamour."

Oxford Cosy Club has become the 36th Cosy Club across England and Wales.

Earlier this month Loungers, which runs hundreds of cafe bar and restaurant sites around the UK, said that its growth has accelerated in recent weeks.

The business said that sales rose 7.7 per cent in the 24 weeks to the start of October. It was up from 5.7 per cent growth in the prior 12 weeks, Loungers said.

It means that in the first half of this financial year, Loungers made £149.6 million in revenue, 22.3 per cent higher than the year before.

Loungers also said that the pressure from inflation was easing.

The group said that it had opened 16 more sites during those six months.

It means that there are now 238 Loungers locations across the country. It plans to add to this and open a record 34 sites during this financial year.
