The decision comes despite the objection of Abingdon Town Council.
The authority warned the plans would “represent overdevelopment of the site” and noted the district council’s concerns over “possible nuisance to neighbours.”
A nearby householder in Neave Mews who commented on the application online warned of the proposed structure “looming over our property.”
But the district council has consented to the work, provided it is in line with the applicants' original proposal.
