A police response to a 'fear for welfare' call forced a key Oxfordshire A-road to close down in both directions this afternoon.
A spokesperson from National Highways confirmed traffic had been stopped in both directions on the A34 around 2.55pm this afternoon (Wednesday May 15).

The stoppages were located near the junction for Chilton due to the incident led by Thames Valley Police.
Around 3.15pm a spokesperson provided an update on the situation with the A34 having reopened.
There remained delays of 10 minutes with around half a mile of congestion in both directions.
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson later confirmed crews were in attendance after a report for "a fear of welfare" incident.
According to AA traffic, the congestion had returned to normal around 3.30pm.
