Shaun Evans and Roger Allam have revealed if they think Endeavour will return to TV screens.

It is over a year since the final episode of ITV's Endeavour was screened with the March 12, 2023 episode watched by millions.

This brought an end to the franchise which started with the Oxford-based Inspector Morse series in the 1980s, based on the novels of Colin Dexter.

Shaun Evans who played the titular character and Roger Allam who played DCI Fred Thursday have had their say on whether the show could ever return.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Mr Evans said: “If people say 'would you come back?' it’s only because the work meant something to them.

“That's really good. That's what I want, for the work to have meant something.

"Would I come back? No is the answer, because what more is there left to say that I can say about this? So no – never say never, but it would be highly unlikely."

Mr Allam added: "If there was a really good script, I’d certainly consider it, yeah, absolutely.

“Or Thursday, I think he needs to go somewhere quite a long way away.

“He could set up as a private detective in Cornwall, and that would be great, wouldn’t it? Or maybe St Tropez."

Mr Evans is set to star in another ITV crime drama later this year with the actor starring alongside Anna Maxwell Martin in Until I Kill You.

He was also recently spotted meeting fans at Exeter College Chapel back in March.
