Circus acts and an animal show entertained crowds at a Didcot care home's family fun day recently.

Alma Barn Lodge welcomed the community for an array of entertainment including fire-breathing and a highwire act.

Visitors connected with nature at the petting zoo, and enjoyed meeting Alfie the therapy donkey.

Meanwhile, the Ribbertyrabbit crafting corner proved to be a popular feature as visitors created pieces of artwork to take home as souvenirs.

There was also a disco, performances by singers, craft stalls and a classic Punch and Judy show.

Harwell resident Amelia Crook said: "It was a lovely community event and an opportunity to see a care home that felt warm and inviting and not the typical stereotype image that everyone who does not work in the care industry has of a care home."

Care home manager Su Heller added: “The family fun day was a true celebration of community spirit and togetherness.

"Seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces as they enjoyed the various activities and attractions warmed my heart.

"It was a joy to witness the bonds between local residents, families, friends, and staff grow stronger throughout the day.

"Events like these remind us of the power of coming together and creating lasting memories.

"I am incredibly grateful to all who made this day possible, and I look forward to many more moments of shared happiness in the future.”
