AFTER avoiding jail, a man who stabbed his housemate in the hand is back in court for missing a telephone appointment.

Wadzanai Jaure’s victim claimed that the 42-year-old had waved the kitchen knife towards his face. He put up his hands to protect himself and, as a result, received a slash wound to his left index finger on April 29, 2022.

It was alleged that Jaure, now of Padbury Close, Banbury, stabbed the man because he had not paid him for looking up a social services telephone number.

Jaure was handed a two year prison sentence, suspended for years on October 5, 2022. He has three months left of his order.

However, the defendant was back in court on Friday (June 28) after missing a telephone appointment with his supervising officer.

Defending Jaure, barrister Peter De Feu explained that his client’s phone had not been charged and when he tried to call back his supervising officer was on holiday.

He said Jaure appreciates he ‘could have done more’ to make contact.

Mr De Feu said Jaure hopes to become a computer programmer in the future and has been engaging at the job centre. “Things are going well,” he added.

Judge Ian Pringle marked the breach with a £50. He said: “You’ve done pretty well – things are looking up.”
