An Oxfordshire school has issued a safety warning after reports of people jumping into the River Thames.
Wallingford School on St George’s Road is located close to the river and has released a statement in conjunction with Thames Valley Police on social media.
“We have been receiving reports from concerned members of the public that young people have been seen jumping into the river from Wallingford Bridge,” read the statement on X.
“Although we appreciate this can be fun for children we would actively discourage this type of behaviour for the safety of the individuals involved and others that may already be in the water.

“Rivers can be extremely unpredictable and dangerous and jumping into them from height can cause serious injuries or even death.”
The statement added that the police force and school discouraged young people from putting their safety at risk by jumping into the water.
“We would strongly encourage all young people to be mindful of their behaviour and think about their safety,” continued the statement.
“If as a parent you are aware your child is enjoying themselves down by the river please do remind them of the risks and to enjoy the warm weather safely.”
The warning comes as Oxfordshire continues to experience warmer temperatures in recent days following a mini heatwave this week.
