Due to an escalation in crime, disorder, and antisocial behaviour at a south Oxfordshire park police have authorised a Section 34 Dispersal Order.

Thames Valley Police issued the dispersal order due to a recent spike in incidents in Great Western Park, Boundary Park, Didcot

TVP officers with the South Oxon and Vale of White Horse area posted an advisory on social media this morning (Sunday, June 30) about the order.

It said: "In response to the recent escalation in crime, disorder, and antisocial behaviour in Great Western Park, Boundary Park, Didcot, Inspector Michael Havers, from South and Vale Team 4, has authorised a Section 34 Dispersal Order pursuant to the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

"This empowers officers to issue Section 35 dispersal orders to remove any individual suspected of being involved in antisocial behaviour or criminal activity.

"The purpose of this dispersal is to reduce the likelihood of public harassment, alarm, distress, and the occurrence of crime and disorder in the area.
Failing to comply with a dispersal order issued by a uniformed police officer will likely result in arrest.

"The area of the dispersal is within the exclusion zone shown in the below image. The authority for the dispersal will be in place until 06:00hrs on Monday 1st July 2024.

"We encourage you to enjoy yourselves and have a great time, but please be mindful and respectful of the many young families and residents in the area."
