NO evidence was heard on the second day in the trial of a murder-accused man who allegedly beat his school friend to death with a baseball bat.

Janaed Akhtar, 40, is on trial at Oxford Crown Court after being charged with the murder of Neil Comins in their shared home in Cope Road, Banbury, on Wednesday, January 3.

Mr Comins, 39, died the following day, with a pathologist later giving his cause of death as traumatic brain injury.

Akhtar has denied the offence, stating the victim had been assaulted by one of the other two housemates in the shared-occupancy home.

The trial started on Monday (July 1) but was delayed on the second day (Tuesday, July 2) for legal reasons.

A jury heard no evidence.
