An sculpture trail featuring decorated oxen across Oxford is set to begin on Saturday.

More than 130 sculptures will take over the city this summer for OxTrail.

The art installation is raising money for Oxford hospice Sobell House, which will launch the event alongside Wild in Art on July 6.

The collection consists of 31 large sculptures, each decorated differently and positioned across the county.

These oxen, designed by international and UK artists, were chosen from 190 entries.

Children's illustrator Korky Paul and author David Melling are among the selected artists.

Support for the trail extends across the county, with businesses, organisations, artists, and schools getting involved.

There will also be more than 100 ‘mini oxen’ dotted around the county in various locations, including libraries, hotels and community spaces.

Around 85 schools and community groups are participating as part of the mini oxen sculptures.

Groups such as The Girl Guides will have a ‘calf-sized’ herd of decorated and personalised oxen, as well as individually fundraising for Sobell House Hospice.

Families can explore the city and spot the oxen in and around the county, following the trail using the app or map.

The OxTrail art will be on display until the end of August, before the sculptures are auctioned off to raise money for the hospice on September 13.

Westgate Shopping Centre will host the official OxTrail merchandise shop.
