A bus driver was threatened by a man armed with a needle during a robbery in which cash was stolen in Oxford

Police say the incident happened at approximately 11.15pm on Saturday, July 6.

A man cycled down Barns Road, Cowley, and boarded a bus, which stopped outside Templars Bar.

He threatened the bus driver with a needle before taking a quantity of cash from the till.

The bus driver triggered the alarm and the offender ran down the pedestrian walkway past the side of Templars Bar.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police say the offender is described as a white man aged in his 30s.

He was around 6ft tall and was wearing a blue North Face jacket with the hood up.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Timothy Salter said: “This was a concerning incident but we are carrying out a thorough investigation.

“As such, we are asking anyone with information to please come forward, particularly anyone who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage.

“Members of the public will see an increased police presence while we continue our enquiries.
