Deadpool and Wolverine star Hugh Jackman has been spotted in Oxford filming a new movie.

The actor who is best known for starring in films such as The Greatest Showman and Australia as well as playing superhero Wolverine for over two decades was seen filming in the city.

He was filming scenes for his upcoming project called Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie in June.

The 55-year-old has been cast as an Irish shepherd named George in the comedy film which will which star Emma Thompson, Nicholas Braun, Molly Gordon and Hong Chau alongside Mr Jackman.

George raises his sheep for their wool in the film and each night the character then reads a murder mystery aloud as if the sheep can understand what he is saying.

Mr Jackman was seen wearing a blue denim shirt during filming which was partnered with a white top and some tan trousers.

A brown belt and a dark green cap were also on show as the 55-year-old shot a scene outside in a field.

Several crew members could be seen nearby and some were carrying a sheep as well as props.

The actor was spotted removing his shirt and going off to his trailers in between takes for the film.

Mr Jackman is returning to the big screen for his new superhero film Deadpool & Wolverine which will be released on Friday, July 26.

He will reprise his iconic Wolverine role alongside Ryan Reynolds who is returning to play fellow Marvel character Deadpool for a third time.
