Bicester police carried out a shoplifting operation on Saturday, July 20, which resulted in hundreds of pounds worth of items being retrieved. 

The Bicester Problem Solving Team carried out the operation alongside Mitie Security at Sainsbury's in Bicester.

The team described the operation as "very productive".

The operation resulted in 11 stop searches, five out of court disposals, three voluntary interviews which have been arranged and hundreds of pounds worth of products retrieved.

According to Thames Valley Police, in May 2024 shoplifting was the second most commonly reported crime in Bicester, with 72 reports. 

The top most commonly reported crimes were violence and sexual offences.

Other commonly reported crimes on the list were anti-social behaviour and public order. 

An interactive map shows that 10 shoplifting crimes were reported near Bicester Sainsburys in May.
