Thousands of music lovers flocked to an island in the River Evenlode for Oxfordshire’s biggest free festival.

Charlbury's two-day Riverside Festival showcased musical talent from across the county and beyond with over 50 acts across three stages.

Alongside free kids activities, readings and gong sessions, there were country crafts like pole lathing, willow weaving and adventure skills.

Over 25 acts performed on Sunday including The Balkan Wanderers, The MIGHTY Redox, Canadian rockers Critter Cabal, stars from Octavia Freud’s Mancbeth project and Blue Bayou.

London Graffiti, Max Norton, Kokroachez and Barricane performed before Sunday was closed appropriately by Oxford Gospel Events Choir.

Organiser Fergus McVey said: "Riverside is a free event, avoids sponsors and icky stuff like money. The show is run on  karma and gaffer tape, and selling programmes and pints - a rare treat in the increasingly corporate festival jungle.

"Riverside is run entirely by volunteers and has survived through thick and thin, rain and sun for over 25 years. Viva The People’s Republic of Charlbury."
