A teenage girl was approached and assaulted by a man in his late 50s in Oxford earlier this month, Thames Valley Police has said.

Police say the incident occurred on Saturday, July 13 at approximately 6.25pm outside the West Oxford Community Centre in Botley Road.

A teenage girl was approached by a man, who engaged in a conversation with the victim, and then put his arm around her, asking her to come with him.

The was then interrupted by an individual, and left the scene on a bicycle in the direction of Botley and the victim was uninjured, police have said.

Thames Valley Police has described the offender as white, in his late 50s, around 5ft 10ins tall and of a larger build, with grey hair on the side of his head and bald on the top.

He was wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt with a black gilet, black trousers and a mini backpack.

Investigating officer PC Simon McSweeney said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or anyone with information about what happened, to please come forward.

“We are also asking anyone who may have dash-cam, or CCTV footage that could assist our enquiry to please come forward.
