A month of Shakespeare performances in Oxford will come to an end later this week.

Creation Theatre is performing 'As You Like It' at the South Lawn at Wycliffe Hall this summer.

Performances began on July 24 and will come to an end this Saturday, August 17.

It focuses on various forms of love - platonic, sisterly, unrequited, requited, romantic and brotherly - as director Lucy Pitman-Wallace offers a fresh interpretation to the Shakespearean comedy.

She said: "My vision for the play is formal 1950s for the court and the Forest of Arden is 1970s Summer of Love.

"There is a sense that the world goes from black and white into colour and love."

Ms Pitman-Wallace is an award-winning director of productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Lord Chamberlain’s Men, Nottingham Playhouse and Salisbury Playhouse.

The performance will take place in Creation's 'Forest of Arden', located just across from University Parks.

There will be a canopy to shelter audiences from the sun and rain, with guests invited to bring a picnic or use the seats provided.

Picnic blanket tickets for up to four people are on sale now. The grounds and the bar open an hour before the performance.

Performances take place at 2.30pm and 7pm, with tickets costing between £15 and £35 and the show lasting around two hours.
