An ox sculpture signed by city rock band Radiohead will feature in a charity auction next month.

The mini Postb-ox is one of 130 hidden designs which have decorated Oxfordshire over the summer as part of the eight-week art sculpture Ox Trail.

After the trail finishes on August 30, 43 of the designs will be auctioned to raise vital funds for Sobell House Hospice.

Postb-ox features doodles and signatures from over 20 famous faces including the Creep hitmakers plus Dame Judi Dench, Dame Prue Leith, This Morning host Ben Shephard and Oxford-born actor Miriam Margoyles.

It has a starting bid of £1,300.

The auction will be held both online and in person at the Saïd Business School, Oxfordhosted by celebrity auctioneer Thomas Forrester from TV's Bargain Hunt.

Other sculptures for sale are children’s illustrator KorKy Paul's Winnie and Wilbur-inspired ox, and international artist, Amanda Quellin’s design inspired by the stained glass found in Oxford's architecture.

Both have starting bids at £2,500.

Beth Marsh, director of fundraising at Sobell House Hospice, said: “The auction provides a fantastic opportunity to own a unique piece of art while supporting the vital work we do at the hospice.

"We are very excited for the sale, it’s the perfect opportunity to purchase one of the moo-jestic ox sculptures and share in the legacy of OxTrail 2024.”

At any one time Sobell House Hospice provides compassionate care to adults with a life-limiting illness and support to their loved ones for around 650 people across Oxfordshire at home, in its inpatient unit, in the local hospitals, and through its Living Well service.

The auction will be held on Friday, September 13 at 7.30pm. Tickets including drinks, canapés and entry cost £50. Alternatively, bidders can register online, and place offers ahead of the auction.
