Blenheim Palace's Halloween trail will be back with "even more thrills and chills" later this year.

From October 25 to November 3, the annual event will offer a range of spine-chilling experiences for attendees of all ages.

Family and friends are invited to wander from dusk into darkness from one spooky space to another at the Woodstock palace.

This year's attractions include the King of the Pumpkins, surrounded by a field of grinning pumpkins but closely watched by the ringmaster from the haunted circus.

Visitors will then be welcomed into a world of monstrous mirrors and larger-than-life jack-in-the-boxes, before being guided to the fire performers.

In the secret garden, Dr Frankenstein and his counterpart Igor will be plotting and scheming in a laboratory.

There will also be a tree glowing in the dark and headless horseman pacing the grounds.

Along the way, visitors will have to dodge witches, highwaymen, scarecrows, a spider tunnel, fire and brimstone.

There will be a range of food and drink including bewitched burgers, Frankenstein’s fries and loaded curly worms.

This can be enjoyed with a hot toddy or hot chocolate with toasted marshmallows.

The palace, which gained UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 1987, is surrounded by more than 2000 acres of landscaped parkland and formal gardens.

It is the home of the 12th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
