A BBC radio presenter is set to host this year's Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) Staff Recognition Awards.

Bridgitte Tetteh, who presents afternoon shows on BBC Radio Oxford and BBC Radio Berkshire, will host the event at Oxford Town Hall on September 5.

More than 2,800 nominations were received, spanning teams, individual staff members, volunteers, and fundraisers, with the finalists announced in June.

Ms Tetteh's mum enjoyed a career in nursing in London, having started as a midwife in a special care baby unit.

She said: "It's an honour to be hosting the Staff Recognition Awards, and I'm really excited about it.

"Having seen my mum work in the NHS, and the difference it has made to our family over the years, I'm very much looking forward to celebrate the people who are part of it."

Professor Meghana Pandit, chief executive officer at OUH, added: "Our Staff Recognition Awards recognise the provision of exceptional care - and we all welcome the opportunity to celebrate everyone's contribution."

The awards are supported by Oxford Hospitals Charity.

Its chief executive officer, Douglas Graham, said: "The charity team is fortunate to work across all our hospitals and see at first-hand how many inspirational staff there are at OUH.

"It is a real privilege to support the Staff Recognition Awards and take a moment to celebrate and thank these wonderful teams and individuals."
