SCHOOL staff in Wantage are ‘delighted’ with GCSE results after their students received the good news earlier today (August 22).

Students at King Alfred’s Academy opened their results this morning after their end of Year 11 examinations, with staff stating they ‘demonstrated commitment, hard-work and resilience’.

As a result of their efforts, 66 per cent of the cohort achieved at least five GCSE or BTEC qualifications at grade 4 or equivalent with over 128 students achieving 10 or more GCSE or BTEC qualifications seeing 37 per cent of all students taking Biology, Chemistry and Physics as separate individual GCSES.

Headteacher, Jonathan Smart, commented “As a school we are absolutely delighted with this set of results.

“These GSCE and BTEC outcomes match the strong results achieved by last years cohort. Each of our students should be enormously proud of the application and hard work demonstrated in achieving these outcomes.

“It is particularly pleasing that these results will allow the vast majority of our students to take the next step in their education or chosen career.

“I’d also like to pay tribute to the staff of King Alfred’s Academy who have worked tirelessly to support our students throughout their time at the school.”

The school shouted out four students in particular for their results.
