An Oxford based events business has re-branded in a bid to better represent the diversity of its workforce and the range of clients it represents.

Girls and Boys Promotions, which provides event support to venues and businesses across the county, will now be known as Wave Staffing.

The company's founder, Chris Jones, decided to change the name to reflect his firm's commitment to putting its people at its heart and championing inclusivity.

Mr Jones, who founded the business 14 years ago, said: "We conducted some research among our client base, employees and the wider community about what our name represented and the perceived values of our business.

"We concluded that Boys and Girls Promotions didn’t highlight who we are, what we stand for or where society is today."

He continued: "Evolving to fit the people we work alongside and the clients we work on behalf of has been a constant theme in the business.

"It’s important to me that we ensure our brand epitomizes what we believe in.

“We chose to rebrand as Wave Staffing as we manage wide and varying events of all kinds and employee a diverse range of individuals.

"We feel the new name truly encapsulates the spirit of our team, better explains the types of events we can execute and highlights our position in the market."

The company provides its services for corporate and hospitality events, luxury brand promotions, and private functions.

It has helped to deliver events at venues including Blenheim Palace, University of Oxford colleges and Bicester Heritage.

Mr Jones said: "As a black founder I’m proud to employ a hugely diverse team in terms of ethnicity, gender, and sexuality.

"Boys and Girls Promotions no longer felt representative or inclusive enough, so we addressed it."

The switch to Wave Staffing has been well received, according to Mr Jones.

He said: "Our network has been supportive, understood the decision and backed us as people and as a business, which is brilliant.

“The business has grown year-on-year and we have established ourselves as a key part of Oxfordshire’s events scene."

Looking ahead, Mr Jones expects the company to continue its growth under its new name.

He said: “We’ve built a good offering across 14 years and look forward to continuing to grow and helping deliver fantastic events across the county.

"Other than the name above the door nothing has changed, we’re the same team delivering the same services with passion and pride.

"We’ve had a busy start to the financial year, have a strong book of business for 2024, and are looking forward to helping fulfil events across Oxfordshire."
