Police have stopped searching for a woman following an attack on a night out in Oxfordshire which led to three people being assaulted.

The incident occurred as three people were assaulted inside and outside Aka bar in Parsons Street in Banbury at approximately 12.05am on Sunday, August 18.

One of the victims, a man in his 20s, suffered a fractured cheekbone, chipped teeth and cuts to the side of his lips, which required medical treatment.

One other victim, also in his 20s, received scratches and cuts to his head and bruised ribs, while the third man, who was also in his 20s, was not injured.

Thames Valley Police said on Tuesday morning it was looking for a woman who officers believed may have witnessed the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Do you recognise this woman, or is this you?

“We believe she may have witnessed an assault in Banbury on 18 August at the Aka Bar in Parson’s Street.

“If this is you, please get in touch with us on 101 quoting reference 43240396196.

“We would like to clarify, this person is not suspected of any offences whatsoever, and is being sought as a potential witness.”

But in an update issued around 1.35pm, the force confirmed it was "no longer appealing for help in tracing a witness, who has now been identified". 

"We'd like to thank those who shared our appeal," a spokesperson added. 

Two Banbury men, aged 23 and 25, were previously arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

They have been released on conditional police bail until Thursday, November 7 while investigations continue.

An 18-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and has since been released on police bail until Thursday, November 28.
