Oxfordshire County Council has provided an update on the resurfacing works taking place on Botley Road.

The works started last week in addition to a major project at the station and Thames Water works.

The works have been rolled out in two phases with contractors arriving with diggers and other large vehicles on September 16, parking them either side of Botley Road close to Waitrose.

A spokesperson for the council previously said the work from September 16-25 will take place during the daytime from 7am until 7pm.

The council has now announced that the work from tomorrow (Monday, September 23) until Wednesday (September 25) will take place overnight instead of in the daytime.

This means the work will be carried out in three shifts from 8pm until 6am with temporary traffic lights in operation.

It is understood that highways bosses have chosen to schedule the resurfacing work while the rail bridge is shut, as less traffic is using the Botley Road at the moment, compared to when the route is fully open.
