Thames Valley Police has issued a warning following an "external fault" with its online reporting system.

The force has asked the public to consider waiting until the online service is fully restored if the report is not urgent.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: "We are aware that online reporting via the Thames Valley Police website is currently not functioning fully and there are intermittent faults.

"Our 101 lines are still working normally, and so if you need to report anything, you can do so by calling 101.

"If your report is not urgent, we would ask you to please consider waiting until the online service has been fully restored.

"This is an external fault and engineers are working on this and we will provide an update as soon as it is up and running fully.

"A reminder, please only use 999 in the case of an emergency, where a life is in danger or if a crime is happening now."
