Chiltern Open Air Museum set for Halloween Spectacular

Chiltern Open Air Museum's Halloween Spectacular will return on Friday, November 1, from 5pm to 9pm.

For one night only, the heritage museum to the east of Oxfordshire will open its doors for the event, with its historic buildings decorated for the occasion.

Chiltern Open Air Museum’s Halloween Spectacular (Image: Chiltern Open Air Museum) The museum, home to a collection of historic buildings that were once the homes or workplaces of ordinary people, provides the "perfect backdrop for all things ghostly," it said.

Families, children, and adults, are invited to arrive in costume and "brave whatever horrors the museum has in store for them".

Spooky stories will be shared around the fire in the Iron Age roundhouse, and visitors can also collect treats from some of the historic houses before enjoying the warmth of a fire and toasting marshmallows.

Halloween-themed activities will be spread across the museum grounds, including the woodland walk and a "not-so-spooky" walk and family storytelling for younger visitors.

The last admission is at 7.30pm, and due to limited tickets, pre-booking is recommended.

Money raised during the event will go towards supporting the museum's work as an independent charity.
