A new drop-off point for unwanted food items is set to be launched by a care home near Banbury in partnership with a food bank.

Seccombe Court has partnered with Banbury Foodbank to create the drop-off in its reception, encouraging people to donate extra, unused, or unwanted non-perishable food items.

The home is celebrating this year’s Harvest Festival, traditionally a time for famers to give thanks for a good harvest, by launching the drop-off point which will be live on Saturday, October 12.

On the launch date, the home is also set to host a Harvest Craft Festival with a traditional barbecue and music from from Bob Dainty.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own apples to make fresh juice using the home’s apple press, and there will also be three tractors for guests to experience alongside the chance to make scarecrows.

Wojciech Kuczkowski, general manager at Seccombe Court, said: "At Seccombe Court, we are committed to making a positive impact in our communities, which is why this Harvest Festival, we’re proud to be working with Banbury Foodbank to establish a food bank drop-off point at our care home.

"This initiative allows us to come together with residents, their families, and the wider community to support those in need during these challenging times. By working together, we can help ensure that everyone."
