Jeremy Clarkson's new pub, The Farmer's Dog, has received overwhelmingly positive reviews but predictably not everyone was happy.

So what are the Trip Advisor reviews saying?

Overall among 61 reviews, the pub at Asthall near Burford, gets four stars, and 35 'excellent' reviews and six 'terrible' ones.

Lancsbabe said: "Great morning Friday last week, got there early, no queues, lovely brioche bacon roll, my fav cornish tea, purchased some pies and sausage rolls, all really great!"

Nomad "would recommend to anyone on the area".

Tbird said they are "checking off bucket-list items for a longtime fan of Top Gear, Grand Tour, and now Clarkson’s Farm".

The grounds of the pub are breathtaking, the wait-time and cost were reasonable, the servers were friendly, and the food was simple culinary excellence!  Added bonus, the GT tent is on-site, too."

Jessdale1 reckoned it could be an expensive visit.

"Superb pub, absolutely 1st class," they wrote. "The pub, Grand Tour tent and Farmers Puppy can definitely relieve you of your cash but only if you want it to. Beer at £6 a pint is, unfortunately, not out of the way these days."

However, among disappointed punters Mark H from Bristol arrived for lunch at 12.30pm, just half an hour after the pub opened, and was directed to the overflow car park - which costs £2.

"Not a good sign but we stuck with it. Walked to the pub where there was a queue about 40 people long. We decided against this and went to the green marquee. At this point we decided a drink was all we were in for as we were not up for a half hour queue.

"Would we like to pay £2.50 extra for or beer in branded plastic glasses we could keep!!! No thanks."

Louise P from London also stood in a "25 minute queue (which was fine)" but "managed to get served by someone unable to smile".

And Phil D from Cheltenham said; "I think the goal of promoting British produce is laudable but this is not the way to do it IMHO.

"The main restaurant section was physically cold on the night, I sat with my coat on (I was not alone) which matched the decor."

And Kitstar from Northampton arrived for dinner at 4.30pm and said "it was like a tumbleweed moment, the most bizarre atmosphere.

"To the right is the main seating area full of unsure looking customers. A member of staff was in front of the board with the wine choices on so I asked them instead. To which I got a huffy slough over an iPad and read the wine riot act in a monotone voice."

The reviewer goes on: "Imagine a sketch show doing a bit on Gen Z and voila - Jeremy’s bar staff.

"Charlie was in with his head in his hands making a video call, that was kinda the mood. It’s a bit like a McDonald's/airport lounge vibe. Get in, eat your food and leave."
