Two schools in Oxfordshire have both suddenly shut with emergency closures.

Both Clifton Hampden Church of England Primary School on High Street in Long Wittenham and St Edmund's Catholic Primary School on Radley Road in Abingdon have been closed.

The pair announced today (Friday, October 11) they would be shut for the remainder of the day due to water supply issues.

These emergency closures were both announced on Friday on Oxfordshire County Council’s official website.

A warning was posted for St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School which said: “The school is closed today due to an issue with our water supply.

“Sorry for any inconvenience.”

No warning or message was released on the website of Clifton Hampden Church of England Primary School.

It remains to be seen whether or not the schools will reopen as normal next week.
