Oxford United players joined the founder of an Oxford restaurant for an exclusive event recently.

Chef and founder of Six By Nico, Nico Simeone, exchanged culinary tips and success stories with the players at his restaurant.

The event was part of a community engagement day, hosted to celebrate the opening of Six By Nico on the rooftop of Westgate Oxford.

Players from Oxford United's women's team, Adele Lindbaek and Vitaliia Budaieva, were in attendance alongside men's team players Matt Phillips and Max Woltman.

United winger Mr Phillips said: "I’m used to delivering on the pitch and not in the kitchen, so to meet the Six By Nico team and get out in the community after joining the club this summer was great.

"It’s clear Nico strives for his team to be the best they can be, which is the key motive behind any professional footballer.

The restaurant welcomed customers alongside members of The Oxford Business Network for the exclusive evening event.

Diners were treated to cocktails and the ‘Best of Six’ dining experience which celebrated Six by Nico’s most popular dishes from previous menus.

A branded food truck continued the festivities at Bonn Square as passers-by were treated to complimentary samples of Six by Nico’s fine dining experience.

Six By Nico founder Nico Simeone said: "We’ve had a great response to our restaurant in Oxford since we opened in May, and we wanted to use this day as a chance to connect more with the people who have supported us since then.

"Six By Nico has always been about building and growing alongside our community, and we want to keep building on that within Oxford and get involved more with the community here.

"We want to work with local creative companies and local businesses and be more embedded locally."
