A science and ideas festival featuring more than 100 events and activities is currently underway in Oxford.

IF Oxford, an annual community-led festival, will run until November 3, offering events at more than 40 venues across the city.

These will range from hands-on experiments to talks, catering for all ages.

They met experts in diamond materials, fusion energy, and MRI technology, among other fields.

Dane Comerford, festival director, said: "Oxford is renowned globally for its innovation, and the festival provides a fantastic opportunity to meet the people behind some of the world’s most exciting discoveries.

"It’s amazing to see so many people enjoying science in their leisure time, discovering something new.

IF Oxford’s interactive zones will be open during weekends and half-term, offering a mix of "fun and learning," organisers said.

The festival's Science Wonder Discovery Evening at Begbroke Science Park on Tuesday, October 22, has been designed specifically for teenagers.

The festival said it will be "perfect for those curious about cutting-edge science and exploring future study or apprenticeship pathways".

Mr Comerford added: "I wonder how many of tomorrow’s science leaders are attending the festival with their parents this year?"
