Oxford trio Three Idle Women set to release debut album

The Three Idle Women, an Oxford-based trio, will release 'All Hands Together' on Friday, November 8.

The album celebrates the history, culture, and communities of the canals and waterways of Oxford and the Thames, featuring a mix of traditional and original songs.

The Three Idle Women (Image: The Three Idle Women) "Offering a glimpse into the lives of those who live and work on the water," it also pays tribute to the waterways that have inspired the group over the past decade.

The group features Charlie Henry, Steph Pirrie, and Jane Rouse, who play the piano, accordion, ukulele, banjo, trumpet, and bass between them.

Having staged a sold-out launch concert in Oxford, the group is now gearing up for a national release launch concert in London.

The Three Idle Women (Image: The Three Idle Women) The concert, set for November 7 at the Puppet Theatre Barge, will be filmed for the Channel 4 series Narrow Escapes, which is set to be broadcast in April 2025.

Exploring ideas of socio-geography, deepening connections to place and landscape, and one’s relationships to nature, the group reference and celebrate boaters and characters, both past and present.

Working together since 2013, the Oxford trio share their diverse musical skills, instrumentation, and an intimate knowledge of the life on, and along, the Oxford canal and wider waterways.
