A man has been hospitalised in a house fire which destroyed three cars in Oxfordshire.

The incident occurred at a property in Haydock Road in Bicester at around 10.30am yesterday (Tuesday, October 22).

A house fire saw a garage and car port as well as three vehicles destroyed while a man was hospitalised as a result of the incident too.

The BBC confirmed locally that the victim was a 51-year-old man.

Fire engines from three different stations were sent to the scene as firefighters battled the flames at the serious incident.

The property in question was a two storey end of a terraced row of houses but the fire did not spread to the other buildings.

A spokesperson for Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 10.18am on Tuesday, October 22.

“We sent fire engines from Bicester, Kidlington and Rewley Road (Oxford) fire stations to a property in Haydock Road, Bicester

“Crews extinguished a fire involving three cars in a car port and garage, which were completely destroyed by fire.

“A two storey end of terrace domestic property was also affected by fire and smoke and had to be mechanically ventilated.

“An adult was taken into the care of SCAS and crews left the scene at 2:50pm on the same day.”
