The most unpopular colleges at Oxford University have been named.

A prestigious and historic institution, the University of Oxford commands a high-standing reputation and is the dream of most aspiring students around the world.

Ranked as the best university in the globe for a ninth year in a row, it remains one of the most sought-after universities for aspirational teenagers.

Those applying to Oxford must also apply to a college that they will be a part of should they get accepted.

Yet according to data from the official Uni of Oxford website, some colleges are not as popular in the application process as others with clear favourites shown.

The 15 most unpopular colleges at the university have now been revealed by analysing which received the least applications in 2023.

Some colleges are mostly research-based with few students actually taught hence the extremely low numbers attached to some of the list’s entries.

Both St Stephen’s House and Ripon College Cuddesdon received one application while Wycliffe Hall also finished in single figures as it received nine.

Harris Manchester College and Regent’s Park College were tied with 137 applications each as Mansfield College received 412 applications.

Big names including Corpus Christi College and Oriel College made the list with applications totalling 437 and 531 respectively.

Elsewhere St Peter’s College gained 610 applications closely followed by Lincoln College with 620 and Merton College on 633.

Fellow big names St Hilda’s College and The Queen’s College got 653 and 659 applications respectively while Lady Margaret Hall received 660 and St Edmund Hall 662.
