Community organisers in Jericho are looking forward to more Lazy Saturday celebrations next year after the latest successful event.

More than 200 people attended the 13th Lazy Saturday in Mount Place, the public space in Jericho, which is owned by the city council.

The afternoon ended with dancing in the square to the local band The Spiralites who were one of the four bands in attendance alongside the Balkan Wanderers.

Their mixture of Madness songs and ska went down a treat at the gathering on October 19, and the next event is being planned for Easter.

Beer was supplied by Little Ox brewery, with staff selling out of their supply of bitter, and more than 120 hotdogs were sold.

John Howson and Chris Andrews were in charge of the sales of Jericho books, calendars, postcards and tea towels.

The tea towels are proving popular with more than 1,000 sold to date. Organisers also said Jericho 2025 calendars sold well too.

Organiser John Mair said: "The Lazy Saturdays prove a hit  each and every time they pop up.

"It is a great use for a public space. There should be one or two more in 2025, starting at Easter."

Since 2021, a series of Lazy Sunday and Lazy Saturday gatherings featuring live music, food and sales of art and books have taken place at Mount Place.

They have all been organised by Mr Mair.
