Police have revealed why a man and a 14-year-old boy were arrested in relation to a “hit-and-run” crash in Oxford.
The incident occurred just before 8.30am on Monday, November 4 when a 17-year-old schoolboy was riding his bicycle in Banbury Road.
Between the junctions of Beechcroft Road and Oakthorpe Road, he was involved in a collision with a motorcycle and the biker left the scene.
The 17-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in a critical condition.

Two people, a 14-year-old boy and a 51-year-old man, both from Oxford, have been arrested in connection with this incident and remain in police custody.
Thames Valley Police (TVP) has now revealed that the man was arrested on suspicion of fraudulently using a registration mark/registration document.
He was also arrested on suspicion of being the driver of a vehicle failing to stop after a road traffic collision and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The 51-year-old remains in police custody at present.

The boy has now been released with no further action.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Tony Jenkins said: “Sadly, a boy has sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
“I am appealing to anybody who witnessed the incident or who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage that has captured the collision, or the moments leading up to it, to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.”
